The 12th edition of the country’s premier air show, Aero India 2019, will be held at Air Force Station at Yelahanka in Bengaluru from February 20 to 24.

The Ministry of Defence has lined up programmes for Start-Ups Day, Women’s Day, Daily Students’ Day, Drone Olympics and photography contests as sideshows to make it an interactive affair.

“More than 350 exhibitors will be accommodated in five hangers at the Air Force Station,” Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station-Yelahanka, Air Commodore Ravuri Sheetal told reporters.

“In the air display section, so far, 31 aircraft from both defence and civil aviation are to take part. Prominent among them are Saras, Rafale, Hansa, Embrar, AN132, Airbus 330 etc. For static display, we have conformation and registration from 22 aircraft,” he added. In the previous edition of Aero India in 2017, the total footfall was around 5.4 lakhs and last two witnessed 1.25 lakh footfalls per day.

Start-up Day

The government plans to organise a start-up showcase event during Aero India on February 21 to tap into the highly motivated entrepreneurial talent pool of the country.

The showcase event provides the platform for interactions between the domestic and international start-up community, key policymakers in the Indian defence sector, and CEOs of leading Indian and global start-ups. The event offers a learning opportunity and visibility for aspiring innovators in the space.

Womens’ Day

To showcase achievements made by women in the aero-space sector. On February 23, has been earmarked as “Women’s Day” at the Aero-India-2019. On that day, felicitation of women achievers, unveiling of the brochure highlighting achievements of women, experience sharing by leading women in Aero-Space Sector and flying display by women pilots, paratroopers etc.

Drone Olympics

UAV market is one of the fastest growing market in India. Starting from expensive military UAVs or small consumer toys, UAVs are now venturing into commercial space, be it basic surveillance, photography, site inspections, monitoring crops, collecting geographical data, delivery services. Avenues are limitless.

Here Aero India is offering opportunity for all the UAV manufacturing enthusiasts to showcase the capabilities of the Drones they are manufacturing.

Students’ Day

‘Technology Day’ is being observed on February 22 , wherein interalia, students who are involved in the aerospace sector, both civil and defence, will be given an opportunity to showcase their projects. The selected projects on aerospace related activities would be displayed. As a part of this exercise, students from Universities/Institutions would be invited to submit their projects. These projects would be evaluated by an appropriate body to ensure selection of exciting and technically challenging projects for the event. This is also in line with the initiatives such as Make in India, Digital India & Startup India.

Photography contests

The photography contest is open to all. The subject is ‘Flying Objects’.
